After years of rumors Disney Cruise Line has finally announced they are indeed expanding their fleet of cruise ships. Disney recently had a meeting of shareholders where they announced the information and today a press release was sent to multiple sources as well as Disney travel agents around the world. The ships will be 135,000 tons and have 1,250 staterooms which is slightly larger than the Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy.
The ships are being build in Germany at the Meyer Werft Shipyard and the first will be completed in 2021 with the second coming in 2023. No details have been announced at this point as far as ship names, itineraries, ports, or other details of the new ships. This is huge news for Disney Cruise Line though as they have seen extreme popularity in the last several years. There is no doubt this is a good sign for those of us who love cruising with Disney.
