Disney Cruise Line Expanding Its Fleet

New Ship AnnouncementAfter years of rumors Disney Cruise Line has finally announced they are indeed expanding their fleet of cruise ships. Disney recently had a meeting of shareholders where they announced the information and today a press release was sent to multiple sources as well as Disney travel agents around the world. The ships will be 135,000 tons and have 1,250 staterooms which is slightly larger than the Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy.

The ships are being build in Germany at the Meyer Werft Shipyard and the first will be completed in 2021 with the second coming in 2023. No details have been announced at this point as far as ship names, itineraries, ports, or other details of the new ships. This is huge news for Disney Cruise Line though as they have seen extreme popularity in the last several years. There is no doubt this is a good sign for those of us who love cruising with Disney.

Disney Parks will See Ticket Price Increase on February 28

Disney has announced that beginning on Sunday, February 28, 2016 they will increase tickets prices around 5%-8% for most tickets and will also be using variable rate pricing for 1-day tickets. One of the ticket vendors we support, Undercover Tourist, will still have discounted tickets (at 2015 prices) for a limited time, so buy them while they are still available.

For 1-day tickets Disney has instituted a tier pricing structure for three distinct time periods of the year, value, regular, and peak. Peak dates will happen about 30% of the year and this includes the holiday season, all of the spring break time period, and most of the summer. During this period the Magic Kingdom will cost $124 per day while the other parks will be $114 per day.

The value season will include only about 20% of the year and this will include most of late August and September. During this time a 1-day ticket to the Magic Kingdom will be $105 and all other parks will be $97.

Finally, all other dates will be termed regular season. During these dates the Magic Kingdom will cost $110 per day and all other parks will be $102 per day.

*These prices do not include taxes.

River Belle Terrace Now Taking Reservations at Disneyland Park

Recently Disneyland has converted the iconic River Belle Terrace from a quick service restaurant to a table service restaurant. As of February 10 River Belle Terrace was taking reservations via the normal reservations methods of the Disneyland resort. The menu, although still themed similarly to what it was before, has been revamped and modified for the new table service atmosphere.

As far as appetizers guests will be able to find toasted bread and celery served with pimento cheese dip. Also, grilled and chilled shrimp will be served with BBQ cocktail sauce and lemon. Finally there will be some salads available one of which is a house arugula salad with apple, gorgonzola, candied pecans, dried cranberries, and an apple vinaigrette.

There will be a wide variety of entrees available, but the chefs have turned to some fantastic southern dishes like pork spare ribs, sustainable fish, oven-roasted sausage links, and oven-roasted barbecue chicken. There will also be some interesting sandwiches on the menu featuring fried chicken, beef brisket, or pulled pork. For those that want a lighter entree option there will also be some entrees that such as a salad topped with grilled shrimp, grilled chicken, or BBQ tofu.

Finally, the desserts that have been developed for the River Belle Terrace are something many are looking forward to. From a maple, apple & bacon bundt cake to a butterscotch pudding parfait it appears as though guests are going to be pleased. Another interesting dessert option that we will be sure to try is the fried cheesecake.

Have you been to the new River Belle Terrace since the switch was made? If so, comment below and let us know about your experience.
