Disney Cruise Line Brings Home Readers’ Choice Award as Top Cruise Line

Disney Dream from Castaway CayConde Nast Traveler, one of the leading travel magazines and blogs in the world, has announced the results of their annual Readers’ Choice Awards. Conde Nast announced that over 300,000 readers participated in the award voting as they named the top airlines, hotels, cities, resorts, cruise lines, and other travel theme destinations around the world. Disney Cruise Line, who has been in the top spot in the Conde Nast voting for quite some time, has once again been voted the top cruise line in the world according to readers in the large cruise ship category.

Karl Holz, the president of Disney Cruise Line said this:

“These kinds of awards are among my favorite. “The input is unfiltered and genuine, and comes directly from readers and our guests. It speaks volumes about our Cast and Crew Members who deliver the most amazing cruise vacations.”

The large cruise ship category, where Disney won, was due to the Disney Dream and Fantasy ships. Disney also placed second in the medium ship category behind Crystal Cruises based on the Disney Wonder and Magic ships. Disney Cruise Line Expanding Its Fleet

New Ship AnnouncementAfter years of rumors Disney Cruise Line has finally announced they are indeed expanding their fleet of cruise ships. Disney recently had a meeting of shareholders where they announced the information and today a press release was sent to multiple sources as well as Disney travel agents around the world. The ships will be 135,000 tons and have 1,250 staterooms which is slightly larger than the Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy.

The ships are being build in Germany at the Meyer Werft Shipyard and the first will be completed in 2021 with the second coming in 2023. No details have been announced at this point as far as ship names, itineraries, ports, or other details of the new ships. This is huge news for Disney Cruise Line though as they have seen extreme popularity in the last several years. There is no doubt this is a good sign for those of us who love cruising with Disney.
