New Enhancements Soon to Be Rolled Out Aboard the Disney Wonder

The Disney Wonder embodies the Disney Cruise Line tradition of blending the elegant grace of early 20th century transatlantic ocean liners with contemporary design to create a stylish and spectacular cruise ship. (Todd Anderson, photographer)

The Disney Wonder, one of the classic Disney Cruise Line ships, is fresh out of its latest dry dock and will very soon be setting sail from Galveston, TX. Here are a few of the new enhancements that were recently released by the Disney Parks Blog.

Super hero sightings, a New Orleans-style street party celebration and “Frozen” fractals all around are just a few of the things that will wow your family aboard the transformed Disney Wonder. This week we are debuting an incredible lineup of enhancements, with something exciting for every member of the family.

Tiana's PlaceOne of the biggest enhancements came in the kids area of the ship as they have added the Marvel Super Hero Academy similar to the Disney Magic after its renovation. Here kids can meet Spider-Man, Captain America, Black Widow, and other super heroes from Marvel. We will also seeing the opening of a new restaurant on board, Tiana’s Place. Here you will get to enjoy dinner in the charm of the Louisiana bayou itself. The southern-style cuisine will lead the way for the great atmosphere and your dinner will even include a live jazz band, a parade, and performances by Tiana herself.

Frozen Adventures - OlafGuests will also get to enjoy a new stage musical, “Frozen, A Musical Spectacular”. In this new show guests will feel as if they’ve stepped in to the middle of snowy Arendelle and will get to hear all of their favorite songs and see all of their favorite characters from the Frozen movie. Another first of its kind addition to Disney Cruise Line will be the ability for kids to be dropped off at Wandering Oaken’s Trading Post for a special show featuring their “Frozen” friends. After watching the show the kids can play in the Frozen Adventures area in the youth club including hands-on activities as well as interactions with Anna, Elsa, and Olaf. A final new addition for the adults aboard is the Crown and Fin Pub. This authentic British tavern will gives adults time to grab a drink and relax after the long and busy day onboard.

These are not the only enhancements aboard the re-designed Disney Wonder. Once the ship officially opens we will outline any other changes, additions, or modifications. Let us know your thoughts on the new Disney Wonder below by commenting here or on Facebook.

Disney Cruise Line Releases Ports & Itineraries for Early 2018

Disney Dream from Castaway CayDisney Cruise Line has revealed the itineraries and ports that will be available on their fleet in early 2018. These ports and itineraries can be booked starting on October 27, 2016.

Disney will continue their presence in the places they have become ever more popular like the Caribbean and they will service a new port there for the first time, Bonaire. Bonaire is known for beautiful Caribbean water and is a great spot for people interested in water sports including scuba diving, snorkeling, windsurfing, and kiteboarding.

Bonaire will be included on the Disney Wonder’s itineraries as she will return to San Juan, Puerto Rico for seven night Southern Caribbean sailings in January of 2018. The other ports included on this itinerary area Curacao, Aruba, St. Lucia, Martinique, Antigua, and St. Kitts.

The Disney Wonder will also return to San Diego in April and May of 2018 to sail to the Mexican Riviera and Baja. The itineraries include five night sailings that visit Cabo San Lucas and Ensenada, Mexico along with two and three night sailings that visit only Ensenada. The two night cruises depart on Friday’s from San Diego which means those sailings will provide the perfect weekend getaway.

From February through April Disney will have four ships stationed in Port Canaveral offering from three to seven night Caribbean cruises as well as a stop at Castaway Cay on every cruise. The Disney Dream will continue offering three and four night cruises to the Bahamas and Castaway Cay while the Disney Fantasy will continue its run of seven night Eastern and Western Caribbean voyages. The Disney Wonder, which will be stationed in Florida from February 8 through April 8 will sail a variety of three, four, and seven night sailings.

With all of this talk about the other ships you’re probably wondering where the Disney Magic is heading during this time period, and now we know the Magic will be headed back to Miami. In early 2018 the Disney Magic will be sailing four and five night Bahamas cruises along with five night Western Caribbean sailings. Each and every one of these sailings will also visit Castaway Cay.

Guests Can Now Book Meet & Greets on Disney Cruise Line

DSCN0812Disney Cruise Line guests who like to pre-book some of their experiences while on board are in luck. Disney is now offering guests the ability to book character meet & greets prior to their cruise setting sail. This includes pre-reserving tickets to the popular Princess Gathering and Frozen Meet and Greet. Guests can do this through the www.DisneyCruise.com website or they can contact their travel agent. In addition to this perk guests who are traveling on a 7 night or longer itinerary that has two or more sea days can also pre-reserve Character Breakfasts.

Disney Wonder Will Get a Host of New Experiences This Fall

DSCN0812The Disney Wonder, one of the “classic” Disney Cruise Line ships will undergo a full re-imagination this coming fall as it heads into dry dock. These enhancements do not appear to be identical to what the Wonder’s sister ship, the Disney Magic, received a couple of years ago, but instead appear to be some distinct new changes that will be unique to Disney Cruise Line.

The first enhancement that will be a first of its kind in the Disney fleet is the addition of the Marvel Super Hero Academy. The characters in the Marvel Universe will come to life and young guests themselves can train to be an adventurous and courageous hero. Each young guest will get to participate in adventures and scenarios where they will play an important role and they will even learn some skills of teamwork and problem solving along the way.

Another new and fun experience will be new additions to the Oceaneer Club, which is open to children between the ages of three and 12. There will be a new play area within the club featuring the famous Disney story Frozen, where guests will get to play games with Olaf and get ready for a visit by Anna and Elsa. Also within the club will be Club Disney Junior where some of the younger guests’ favorite shows will be represented from Doc McStuffins to Sofia the First to Jake and the Neverland Pirates. Finally, in the Oceaneer Club guests should get ready to play in Andy’s Room where they will feel what it is like to be the size of the toys and even participate in a scavenger hunt with Woody and Jessie.

All guests to the Wonder are also going to be dazzled by the new dining venue, Tiana’s Place Restaurant, which again will be exclusive to this ship. The restaurant will feature spirited jazz music and a street party atmosphere while having that special touch of southern charm. That southern charm will not only be present in the decor and setting, but will be featured in the menu as well as they will produce food that is good for the body and the soul.

The adult district of the ship will also feature upgrades, including the addition of Cheers, an English pub. In this dining venue adults will get to experience an authentic English tavern including leather furniture, dark woods, and a setting that is like a true neighborhood pub. The pub will even offer specially made brews just for the guest’s enjoyment. This pub will not be without its touch of Disney nostalgia though as it will have artifacts from some classic Disney films that are set in London including artwork and film props. The rest of the adult district will also feature a major upgrade including a new model of the Cadillac Lounge.

In addition to all of those major changes onboard the ship will be getting a variety of other smaller upgrades and enhancements including the following:

  • A new and re-designed and re-themed Senses Spa and Chill Teen Spa.
  • Upgrades to the Animator’s Palate restaurant which will allow them to present the popular “Animation Magic” and “Drawn to Magic” dinner shows.
  • The addition of a D Lounge for games and entertainment that the entire family will enjoy.
  • The addition of a Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique that will give prince and princess like makeovers to young guests.
  • Upgrades to the club designed just for tweens, Edge.
  • Upgrades to the Cabanas buffet on the upper decks.
  • Upgrades and enhancements to the popular specialty dining restaurant, Palo.
  • A new water slide, Twist ‘n Spout will provide fun for all ages on the upper decks.
  • Dory’s Reef, a splash area for toddlers, will be added.
  • The addition of the AquaLab which is a pool and interactive water area for kids and families to play and enjoy the day.

The Wonder will enter its dry dock in Cadiz, Spain on September and will stay there through October 23. After this enhancement period is over guests will able to experience these upgrades as the ship will begin sailing from Galveston, TX on November 10, 2016.
